Bio
Anja is a Graphic Designer by profession, but her passion extends far beyond design to all forms of creativity and artistic expression. Creativity has been her lifelong companion, deeply rooted in her family’s artistic heritage. Her grandfather’s mastery of wood carvings and her mother’s talent as a graphic artist have profoundly shaped and inspired her journey.
She graduated with a distinction from Nelson Mandela University in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, majoring in Graphic Design. Over the past 20 years, she has worked with top brand agencies and, more recently, as a freelance designer, refining her skills and exploring diverse artistic avenues.
Her design background naturally influences her artwork. She loves layering different mediums, using vibrant colors, bold shapes, and dramatic compositions to evoke emotion and capture a sense of time and place.
In recent years, painting has become more than a creative outlet—it is a source of inspiration and joy in a world often overshadowed by uncertainty. This cathartic process allows her to appreciate the small, fleeting details of everyday life—the way light dances unexpectedly, the sudden burst of color in nature, the hidden ‘jewels’ that surround us. Through her art, she seeks to offer an antidote to the negativity in the world by celebrating beauty in its purest form.
Nature is her greatest muse. The ever-changing quality of light, the shifting colors of the seasons, and the quiet drama of the natural world captivate her endlessly. The vastness of nature reminds her of our place in the universe and our deep interconnectedness with everything around us. It teaches us perspective, encourages us to let go, and invites us to pause and find solace in its grandeur.
When she creates, her goal is not merely to replicate a scene but to capture the essence of what she experiences—to heighten colors, exaggerate tones, and play with proportions in a way that reflects the raw, unfiltered beauty her soul perceives.
Faith plays a central role in her life, and she sees God as the ultimate artist, whose presence can be felt in every aspect of creation. As an artist, she feels a deep calling to translate what she sees and feels in her work, using her talent as a way to glorify Him.
Through her art, she strives to merge design and artistic expression, creating visual harmony that invites viewers to reflect on nature’s interconnectedness, appreciate fleeting moments, and marvel at the wonder of creation. Her work is a humble expression of gratitude—an offering to share the beauty that surrounds us.
