Elson Kambalu

Bio

Elson Kambalu is a visual artist plying his trade in Cape Town (SA) & Lilongwe, Malawi. He is increasingly drawn to conceptual and participatory work and he is interested in issues of identity, listening to and sharing people’s stories, thereby creating works that stimulate debate. Elson has had his work exhibited across many parts of the world for the past 20 years and his work has appeared on BBC, CNN, and several broadcasting houses across the world.

In 2015, he received a best Malawian Artist Award from the President of Malawi, Dr. Peter Mutharika. In 2022 he received another Presidential Award for his outstanding service to Country, presented to him by the current Malawi President, Dr. Lazarus Chakwera.
