The Hero’s Journey
An audio-visual solo exhibition by artist/writer
RUFUS

Rufus’s pieces embody a universal Hero exploring the external and internal experiences of life. Her work symbolizes striving for the experience of truly being alive, and the courage and endurance we need to transcend adversity.

Intuitively she pioneers the wilds of her psyche seeking wisdom and guidance in the Unknown. Gestures from her brush reveal the landscapes and moods of her soul. They describe the nature of her spirit, its hopes and dreams and the longings of her heart.

The landscapes represent the magnificent grandeur of the natural world, the deeper archetypal stages we go through and the places we find our Self within both.

The dramatic weather suggests the atmosphere of our inner and outer environments and their effect upon us. While atmospheric forces threaten or support us, it is our withstanding and endurance of them that shapes and strengthens us.

The lone figure represents the Hero in everyone’s story as he ventures between the seen and the unseen while Being strengthened and Becoming awakened by life’s Journey.

The birds are symbols of the Winged Voice, Intuition, Imagination, Grace and Genius. The Feathered Messenger whose guiding songs can be heard between and in all realms.
